2021-2022 School Year Food Service Information

For the 2021-22 school year breakfast will be offered in the classroom for all K-4 students. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria for all 5-12th grade students. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria for all K-12 students. We will be participating in a new school nutrition program through OPI called the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). It allows for all students to receive breakfast and lunch for FREE, regardless of their eligibility status. Any student can receive a complete meal for free. If your student prefers to bring a lunch from home they may still add a fruit, vegetable, and milk at no charge. They must choose 3 out of 5 items to qualify for a free meal, with one of those items being a fruit or vegetable. Individual milk will still be charged to the student's account at a price of $0.50. Adult meals are $2.50 for breakfast and $4.50 for lunch.

We still encourage all families to fill out a Free/Reduced School Meal eligibility form to help our district have accurate records for our student's F/R income eligibility status. You can find these on our website at bsd44.org on the Food Service page. Please call our Food Service Department at 406-924-2516 with any questions.

No remote student meal pickup will be offered at this time.

FREE OR REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATIONS

BSD switched from operating the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program (NSLP) to the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). School meals are free for all students.  We will operate under the SSO for the entire 21-22 school year, but when we do eventually go back to NSLP, students will go back to paying for meals based upon their eligibility status.

In the meantime, it is very important that you submit Free or Reduced Price Meal applications for your family.  In addition to school meals, the counts for Free or Reduced Price students support a number of different programs, from athletics to academics, and more.

BSD now has an online application for Free or Reduced Price Meals.  You can access the online application at

You can also submit the paper forms, either by sending them to your school or to Administration.  You can also send the paper form to my email address, below.
