Notice of Annual School Election

Notice is hereby given by the undersigned District Clerk of Belgrade School District No. 44, Gallatin County, State of Montana that the Annual School Election will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, by mail ballot.
The Election will be held for the purpose of electing three (3) Trustees for three-year (3) terms. The six (6) candidates for such election are the following citizens, duly nominated by valid petitions as certified by the Clerk of said school district, according to the school laws of Montana authorizing to the election of school trustees:

- Shayla Mills
- Gabi Murillo
- Holly Murray
Proposition to be voted upon:
Site Selection Election (elementary district only)
Shall the Board of Trustees of School District No. 44 (Belgrade), Gallatin County, Montana (the “District”) be authorized to acquire from the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (the “DNRC”) an easement pertaining to an approximately 60-acre site located west of Jackrabbit Lane and north of Frank Road for the purpose of building on such site a future elementary school and, if authorized, another school or schools and making associated improvements, including site work such as roads, utilities, parking lots, and related improvements? The site is more particularly described as follows:
A newly created approximately 60-acre parcel located within SW4 & W2SE4 of S11, T01 S, R04 E -Gallatin County, MT. This is a site selection election only.
The District is not by this election seeking additional funds to pay the purchase price of acquiring an easement pertaining to the site. Based on an appraisal caused to be conducted by the DNRC, the purchase price is estimated to be approximately $100,000 per acre, which will be funded from proceeds of general obligation school building bonds previously authorized by the electors on February 26, 2019.
Ballots will be mailed to all eligible registered voters in the Belgrade District on April 15, 2022 and must be returned no later than 8:00 pm on May 3, 2022. This election is by mail ballot only- regular polling places will not be open. In order to be counted, ballots must be received at the election office or in the drop box at one of the locations listed below by 8:00 pm on Election Day, May 3, 2022.
Ballots returned by mail should be sent to the Gallatin County Election office in pre-addressed signature envelope provided with the ballot allowing enough time for delivery by May 3, 2022 (ballots postmarked on May 3, but received on a later date will not be counted.)

A qualified registered elector who will be absent from the district during the time the election is being conducted may: a) vote in person in the election administrator’s office as soon as the ballots are available and until noon the day before the ballots are scheduled to be mailed; b) make a written request, signed by the applicant and addressed to the election administrator, that the ballot be mailed to an address other than the address that appears on the registration card. If you miss this regular registration deadline (30 days prior to the election), you may still late register at the county election office. The late registration certificate may be exchanged for a ballot at the school election administrator’s office until the close of polls on Election Day.
