Update from Godfrey Saunders

Dear Parents,

At last night’s board meeting, the Trustees voted 7 – 0 to continue off-site instruction and learning for the remainder of the 2019- 20 school year. This was not an easy decision for the Trustees. They understand the importance of face-to-face teaching and learning, but they also understand the need to provide a safe environment for both students and employees. We did not have the time or resources to accomplish the latter.

That being said, school is still in session online. Teachers are still teaching and students are required to complete their assignments. Incomplete assignments will have a negative effect on a student’s grade.  Online learning can be very challenging at times. If your student is experiencing difficulty, please have him/her contact their teacher. Our teachers care deeply about the success of their students. Please take advantage of their expertise.

Additionally, we don’t know what challenges we will face for the next school year, but we are in the process of planning for as many scenarios as possible. Our instructional team will be planning for everything that deals with teaching and learning, while our operational team will be planning for the day-to-day operations of the district, like bussing, PPE, cleaning supplies, etc. We can’t account for every eventuality, but we can have enough resources and procedures in place to truly minimize the risks for our students and employees.

Thanks for your patience, understanding and support during these uncertain times. Between now and June 5th, we wish you and your student a very successful school experience and a summer free from distancing.
