COVID Update

Dear Belgrade Families,

Thank you for your support as we navigate the second school opening in the midst of the COVID pandemic. While we were all hoping COVID would be a thing of the past at this point, we know that it is not. As with last year, we are working through understanding often conflicting requirements and regulations from national, state and local levels.

At this time, there is a CDC Order and TSA Security Directive mandating that drivers and passengers on school and activity buses wear masks. This is a federal requirement, so cannot be overridden by the Trustees or the Superintendent. The district faces fines of $25,000 per day for noncompliance. As stewards of our taxpayer dollars, it would not be appropriate to put the district in that situation. The Belgrade School District will be complying with this rule, and will require masks on school district buses and activity buses. We will have masks available for students but also welcome students to use their own cloth masks if they prefer. If you have any questions about this requirement, please reach out to me at gsaunders@bsd44.org.

Thank you for your continued support of the Belgrade School District. Throughout this experience, our community has worked together even when we have differing opinions. We take pride in the thoughtfulness, care and civility that our citizens continue to show.

Sincerely,
Godfrey Saunders
Superintendent
