Meet our Superintendent

Mr. Leland R. Stocker became superintendent of Belgrade Public Schools in July 2015.

A native of Washington State, Mr. Stocker grew up in Bremerton, Washington and graduated from Bremerton High School. He earned his principals and superintendents credentials from The Montana State University in Bozeman, a master of science in teaching from Portland State University, a bachelor of arts from Central Washington University, and an Associate of Arts degree from Olympic College.

Mr. Stocker has a distinguished 33-year career in public Education in Washington, Alaska and Montana, serving as superintendent, assistant superintendent, director of education and technology, principal, high school teacher, advisor and coach.

Service to education is reflected in currently serving on the Governing Board for the American Association of School Administrators. He has actively participated in the Four Rivers and Hi-Line Superintendents, Park County Community Foundation Board, Park County Special Education Board, Indian Impact Schools of Montana Board, Greater Gallatin Medicaid Consortium and Montana Association of School Superintendents as president.

Since moving to Belgrade, Mr. Stocker has become involved in the community through civic organizations and his church. He currently serves on the board for the Greater Gallatin United Way, member of the Kiwanis Club, Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Belgrade Education Foundation.
Mr. Stocker’s wife, Kathy, is a substitute bus driver. They have five children, Ruth, Martha, Josiah, Esther and James. Ruth attends The Montana State University in Bozeman, Martha attends Sheridan College in Wyoming and Josiah, Esther and James attend Belgrade High School.
