Belgrade School District Notice of Annual School Election

Belgrade District #44 May 5th, 2026

Notice is hereby given by the undersigned District Clerk of Belgrade School District No. 44, Gallatin County, State of Montana that the Annual School Election will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, by mail ballot.

 

Trustee Election

The Election will be held for the purpose of electing two (2) Trustees for three-year (3) terms. The four (4) candidates for such election are the following citizens, duly nominated by valid petitions as certified by the Clerk of said school district, according to the school laws of Montana authorizing to the election of school trustees:

Operational Levies to be voted upon:

Elementary School District: 

Shall the district be authorized to impose an increase in local taxes to support the general fund in the amount of $709,998.29 which is approximately 6.91 mills for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Belgrade Elementary School District?

 

Passage of this proposal will increase the annual taxes on a home with a market value of $100,000 by approximately $5.25, on a home with a market value of $300,000 by approximately $15.75, and on a home with a market value of $600,000 by approximately $33.66. An increase in property taxes may lead to an increase in rental costs. The durational limit of the levy is permanent once approved by voters, assuming the district levies that amount each year thereafter.

 

High School District: 

Shall the district be authorized to impose an increase in local taxes to support the general fund in the amount of $441,866.32, which is approximately 4.19 mills for the purpose of operating and maintaining the Belgrade High School District?

 

Passage of this proposal will increase the annual taxes on a home with a market value of $100,000 by approximately $3.18, on a home with a market value of $300,000 by approximately $9.55, and on a home with a market value of $600,000 by approximately $20.41. An increase in property taxes may lead to an increase in rental costs. The durational limit of the levy is permanent once approved by voters, assuming the district levies that amount each year thereafter.

 

Ballots will be mailed to all eligible registered voters in the Belgrade District on April 17, 2026 and must be returned no later than 8:00 pm on May 5, 2026. This election is by mail ballot only. In order to be counted, ballots must be received at the election office or in the drop box at one of the locations listed below by 8:00 pm on Election Day, May 5, 2026. 

 

Ballots returned by mail should be sent to the Gallatin County Election office in the 

pre-addressed signature envelope provided with the ballot allowing enough time for delivery by May 5, 2026 (ballots postmarked on May 5, but received on a later date will not be counted.)

If you miss this regular registration deadline (30 days prior to the election), you may still late register at the county election office. The county election office is located at: Gallatin County Election Office, 311 W. Main Street, Bozeman, Montana, 59715
