Board Vacancy Announcement

A vacancy has opened on the Belgrade School District #44 School Board. In accordance with BSD Policy #1113P, the Board declared the position vacant on August 11, 2025 at a publicly noticed board meeting. Letters of interest are currently being sought to fill this position via appointment. After appointment, the successful candidate must be elected to the position in May 2026 to remain on the board.

The Board is requesting interested and qualified persons to submit letters of application by August 26, 2025 at 4:30pm: Drop off or mail to: Belgrade School District Board Chair, 312 N. Interviews of those providing a letter of interest by the deadline will be scheduled during a board meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Who is qualified?

Candidates must: 1) be qualified to vote in a district; and 2) be a resident of the school district.

What does Qualified to vote mean?

The person must: 1) be at least 18 years old; 2) be a resident of the state and county for at least 30 days; and 3) A United States citizen. The person must not be: 1) a convicted felon currently serving a sentence in a penal institution; or 2) determined to be of unsound mind by a court of law.

 

Resolution to Sell and Dispose of Excess, Abandoned, Obsolete, Undesirable or Unsuitable Property

WHEREAS, Section 20-6-604, Montana Code Annotated, provides in pertinent part: (1) Whenever the trustees of a district have determined that real or personal property of the district has become abandoned, obsolete, undesirable, or unsuitable for the school purposes of the district, the trustees may sell or otherwise dispose of the real or personal property.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 20-6-604, Montana Code Annotated, the Board of Trustees of Belgrade School District, has found furniture, technology items, buses, and curriculum materials are obsolete, undesirable, or unsuitable for school purposes;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Belgrade School District, shall hold an Excess Sale, Monday, June 16, 2025, Heck Building, 308 N. Broadway, Belgrade, MT from 9am-3pm. A complete list of items is available on the District’s website: www.bsd44.org

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, in accordance with District practice and as required by Sections 20-6-604 and 20-20-204, Montana Code Annotated, this Resolution shall be posted in three different places in the district and published in Belgrade News, the newspaper of general circulation in the District.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the resolution shall become effective fourteen (14) days after such publication and posting if, in accordance with Section 20-6-604, Montana Code Annotated, no taxpayer appeals this Resolution prior to 5pm, June 13, 2025, by filing a verified petition with the Clerk of the District Court setting out in detail the objections to the adoption of the Resolution or the disposal of the property and serving a copy of such petition upon the School District.
